Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to transplant patients before and after surgery
- Monitor for signs of organ rejection, infection, or complications and respond promptly
- Administer immunosuppressive medications and educate patients on adherence
- Collaborate with surgeons, transplant coordinators, and specialty teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Conduct patient education on post-transplant lifestyle changes, medication management, and follow-up care
- Perform routine assessments, diagnostic tests, and documentation of patient progress
- Support organ donor patients and assist in living donor care
- Maintain strict infection control and safety protocols
- Participate in transplant team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state(s)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in transplant nursing, critical care, or related field
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Transplant-specific certification (CCTN) preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of immunosuppressive therapies, transplant procedures, and post-surgical care
- Excellent patient advocacy, communication, and teamwork skills
