Job Overview
TLC Nursing Associates, Inc. is actively seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pathology Assistant to support pathologists in the preparation and analysis of tissue specimens. This position is primarily structured for travel assignments, offering exciting opportunities to work in diverse clinical and academic pathology labs across the country.
Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist.
- Prepare and process tissue samples for histological analysis.
- Assist with postmortem examinations, including autopsy procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of specimen handling, documentation, and pathology reporting.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment relevant to surgical pathology.
- Adapt quickly to different laboratory workflows and contribute effectively to each healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
- ASCP-PA certification required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in surgical pathology or autopsy services preferred.
- Proficient in gross anatomy, specimen photography, and medical terminology.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to accept travel assignments to various laboratory locations.
