Job Overview
TLC Nursing Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Surgical to provide high-quality care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. This role requires expertise in pain management, wound care, post-operative monitoring, and patient education to ensure a smooth recovery.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess post-surgical patients for signs of complications, such as infection, bleeding, or respiratory distress
- Administer IV fluids, medications, and pain management therapies as prescribed
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and drain management to promote proper healing
- Assist patients with mobility, deep breathing exercises, and post-op rehabilitation protocols
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, medication adherence, and activity restrictions
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and physical therapists to optimize patient recovery
- Recognize and respond to post-op complications, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)
- Maintain accurate patient records, vitals, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state(s)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in post-surgical, medical-surgical, or PACU nursing
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Strong understanding of pain management, wound care, and surgical recovery protocols
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple post-op patients simultaneously
- Excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills
