Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor children and adolescents with mental health disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Provide therapeutic interventions and crisis de-escalation techniques.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, interventions, and response to treatment.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal mental health regulations.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (ADN or BSN preferred).
- Licensure: Active RN license in the state of practice (or compact license).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent de-escalation training preferred.
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-BC) certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of behavioral health nursing experience, preferably with children or adolescents.
- Skills:
- Strong therapeutic communication and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally challenging environment.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral modification techniques.
- Travel Readiness: Must be willing to relocate temporarily for travel assignments.
