- Key Definitions
- lty: Matches the clinician’s primary, secondary, or related specialties. Clinicians must also float down. (Example: Med-Surg RN may be placed in Telemetry)
- Location: Anywhere in the U.S., including Alaska, and Hawaii
- Shift: No shift restrictions; includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Compensation: The prevailing market rate for the professional and specialty. TLC will match documented competitor offers
- Contract type: For travel, 4 weeks to 6 months in length

- Must be fully credentialed with TLC Nursing.
- Must have valid, active licenses in all of the following states: California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Alaska.
- Must have required specialty certifications.
- Must be in good standing (no misconduct, terminations for cause, or license suspensions).

- The Clinician submits a written trigger request.
- The 14- or 28-business-day clock begins the first Monday following the request.
- Guaranteed Timelines
- Travel assignments: Placement guaranteed within 14 business days.
- Candidate Obligations
- Must accept any valid assignment offered. Declining a valid offer voids the guarantee.
- Failure to respond will be deemed a refusal.
- Cannot impose additional contingencies after triggering.
- Cannot request time off during the contract period.
- Must maintain credentials in good standing.
- Pay Guarantee If TLC Nursing fails to secure a valid placement within the guaranteed timeframe:
- TLC will begin paying weekly wages starting the day after the 14 business day deadline.
- Payments continue weekly until placement starts, up to a maximum of 4 weeks.
- Wages are based on market rates at the time of payment.
- Wages are only paid if an assignment is not found.
- Assignments that start in future dates are considered valid placements and do not qualify for any wages.
- Assignments with confirmed start dates within 30 calendar days of offer acceptance are considered valid placements and do not qualify for payout.
- Assignments ended due to clinician misconduct, license suspension, or termination for cause.

- Frequency of Use Clinicians may trigger ShiftShield™ an unlimited number of times, as long as they meet eligibility requirements.
- Program Termination and Modifications TLC Nursing reserves the right to modify or terminate ShiftShield™ with 14 days’ notice.

- Appeals If a clinician disputes that an assignment was valid, they may submit a written appeal to TLC Nursing’s Program Review Board. Decisions are final. Appeals must be submitted within 5 business days of offer issuance. Appeals submitted later will not be considered.

ShiftShield™ Placement Guarantee Policy

ShiftShield™ is a placement guarantee program that provides credentialed clinicians with income protection and job security during career transitions. It ensures that if a participating clinician resigns or ends their current role and activates ShiftShield™, TLC Nursing guarantees to find a new placement within a set period or pay the clinician a weekly wage for up to four (4) weeks.Scope
This policy applies to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Allied Healthcare Professionals credentialed with TLC Nursing. Excludes LPNs, CNAs, LNAs, MHTs, BHTs, PCAs, and any other unlicensed personnel.Business Days:
For this policy, business days are counted starting from the first Monday following the day the clinician submits a valid written notification (“trigger”). Saturdays, Sundays, and U.S. federal holidays are excluded.Trigger:
The written request submitted by a clinician to activate ShiftShield™. The request must clearly state that they are leaving their current job. This can be done by email or through an official online form. For further clarification, the guarantee time begins only when the staff's credential file is complete and verified by TLC Nursing, including all required licenses, certifications, and background checksTrigger Date:

What if I think the assignment offered wasn’t valid?
You may appeal in writing to TLC Nursing’s Program Review Board within 5 business days of the offer. The Board’s decision is final.
